With the economic liberation implemented by the Government of India, as well as the emergence of India on the global trade stage, followed by a change in not only disposable incomes but also the attitude of the Indian consumer, the floodgates have opened for a deluge of products and services in every possible sector.

  • CAI has now been admitted as a full member of Consumers International, which is a world federation of consumer groups with over 220 member organisations in 115 countries.


  • Recommendations to RBI after our Banking seminar resulted in revision of guidelines by RBI - payment of interest on daily basis for savings accounts.


  • Recommendations were made to the Metrology Department regarding mandatory labeling and certification for Medical instruments like glucometers and accountability of inspectors regarding certification.


  • Recommendations were made to all stakeholders (BIS, Govt., Toy manufacturers etc) for mandatory standards to be introduced for paints and other materials used in children's toys. It was only after our seminar that this topic got wide media coverage.


  • CAI submitted a recommendation to Legal Metrology Department that non standard packing should not be allowed for certain products of daily use. CAIs efforts in this direction have yielded fruit. Non standard packing will not be permitted beyond 1st November 2012.
